You demand a high standard of medical care and a compassionate attitude. From state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to personal play time for each animal in our care, we are committed to providing world class service to you and your pets.
The gradual onset of health problems in an apparently healthy pet often go unnoticed. Once symptoms appear, the condition may be too difficult or costly to diagnose and treat. Age is not a disease; however, there are many conditions, which if diagnosed early, can be completely reversed or controlled for extended periods of time.
At least once and perhaps twice a year, your pet needs a complete physical examination. Remember, your pet's lifespan is shorter than ours. A lot can happen in 12 months.
Due to the many recent discoveries and innovations in veterinary medicine, your pet can be protected from most major diseases. Today, many immunizations and preventive treatments are available that did not exist just a few years ago. Vaccination protocols are individualized for your pet. We take into account the exposures and risks your pet faces in your community and where you travel. The staff at Pets Friend Animal Clinic can help you decide what preventive measures are necessary for your pet(s).
Our modern hospital and our highly trained staff allow us to perform most medical procedures and provide the necessary care for all your pets.
Our hospital is well-equipped to perform most minor and major surgical procedures from spays and neuters to more complicated emergency, orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries.
Some of the more advanced orthopedic procedures done at our hospital include fracture repair, ruptured (ligaments) cruciates, and patella (kneecap) luxations . A local surgical specialist may be called in to perform one of these procedures.
Prior to surgery, each patient receives a thorough physical examination to identify any existing medical conditions that might endanger your pet's health. Because not all problems can be detected on examination, we also perform pre-anesthetic blood testing. These tests not only give us a more complete picture of your pet's health but also allow us to tailor an anesthetic regime that is specific for your pet.
We utilize extensive anesthetic monitoring devices including Doppler blood pressure, pulse oximetry and other cardiac monitoring equipment.
Pain management is a part of our pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative anesthetic and medical protocol. All surgical patients, including those undergoing routine procedures such as ovariohysterectomy (spay) or castrations (neuters), receive pain control medications. We urge you to discuss operative pain management options with our staff.
Through advanced training, experience and specialized equipment, we are able to offer comprehensive dental care for your pet. We provide complete dental examinations, charting of periodontal pockets and disease, dental x-rays, scaling, polishing, as well as periodontal surgery procedures. We believe preventative care is the best approach for long term oral health. Periodontal disease is an infection that can cause pain, heart and kidney disease as well as loss of teeth. We welcome the opportunity to discuss things you can do at home to help keep your pet's mouth healthy.
Radiographs (x-rays) are extremely helpful for diagnosing medical and surgical problems.
Ultrasound is a non-invasive modern technique that produces a visual map of the interior of the body, and is often crucial to the comprehensive diagnosis of diseases of the heart, liver, kidneys, gallbladder, spleen and other internal organs. We are fortunate to have mobile, board certified veterinary radiologists and cardiologists available to perform ultrasound examinations for your pet here in our clinic.
Our extensive laboratory provides fast and accurate information that is critical to the sick or injured pet. With our modern, in-house laboratory diagnostic equipment animals receive appropriate treatment immediately after arriving at the hospital.
We are equipped to perform complete blood counts and chemistry profiles, urinalysis and parasitology screening on site. We also perform pre-anesthetic blood testing. This important procedure can greatly reduce the risks associated with anesthesia and surgery. We use a well know professional laboratory to perform additional testing when needed.
We offer veterinary supervised boarding for your dogs and cats. In addition to our kennel attendants who love and care for your pets, our veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians observe and monitor our boarders. Our staff is trained to recognize changes in your pet's appetite and attitude, and they work hard to keep pets clean and comfortable. We also board pets that have ongoing medical problems and who need medication, insulin injections, fluid therapy and/or observation.
Our lovely kennel is all indoors, air conditioned and double insulated to provide a quiet and calm environment for your pet. The dogs are provided with a secure run of their own. The cats are kept separate from the dogs, and housed in double-wide "condos" for their comfort. Both the dog and cat boarding areas have large skylights for natural radiant light, and music is played to soothe your pet.
Please note that pets must be vaccinated prior to boarding with us (cats: current FVRCP and Rabies, dogs: DHPP, Bordatella and Rabies ) and proof of these vaccines is required at check-in. Space is often limited, so to assure availability, reservations for boarding should be made well in advance, especially around major holidays. Please call Pets Friend for prices and reservations.
Click here for our boarding agreement form. Please print it, fill it out, and bring it with you to the hospital before your pet's stay with us.
If you have to wait for a test or procedure to be completed on your pet prior to leaving the hospital, we have created a special play room to help keep your small children entertained while they wait.
We carry a wide variety of veterinary medications and supplies for your convenience to allow most prescriptions to be dispensed before you leave the clinic.
